During my casual browsing of my news feed reader, I came across this interesting chart that shows how George Lucas’s “people, companies, and technologies” have forever influenced moviemaking. I have always said that no single movie franchise has contributed more to movies as we know them today than Star Wars, and this chart graphs it out beautifully.
From Lucasfilm, to Skywalker Sound, to Industrial Light & Magic, to LucasArts, to the many actors and directors and industry experts that Lucas help create, it’s all here.
Whether you liked the Star Wars movie series or not (how could you NOT!), there is no denying George Lucas’s influence. This chart was created by Michelle Devereaux, with help from Erik Malinowski. Way to go, guys.

Warner Bros. recently released a cool motion poster (yeah, you heard that right) for their upcoming release of ‘Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins’. This is about the time where they put the “hype machine” (pardon the pun) into full motion. The motion poster is pretty cool, but I can’t help but wonder…
Is this going to be a worthwhile movie with a fresh take on the ‘Terminator’ series (ala ‘Casino Royale’), or is this just a rehashing of a successful franchise that brings in more money just because they can’t come up with any original ideas?
We’ll know for sure in May 2009. Click the image below for the full motion poster. Enjoy!

io9.com has an interesting post about how Batman (a city in southast Turkey) is suing NOT DC Comics, NOT Warner Bros. (who own DC Comics), but Christopher Nolan (the director of Warner Bros.’ ‘The Dark Knight’, one of last summer’s most successful movies) over the use of the name “Batman”. Suposedly, Batman (the city) is struggling economically and could use the extra dough. According to the post…
“The royalty of the name ‘Batman’ belongs to us … There is only one Batman in the world. The American producers used the name of our city without informing us,” [Mayor of Batman city, Hüseyin] Kalkan told the Doğan news agency… Mayor Kalkan, speaking to the Hürriyet Daily News and the Economic Review, said last year foreign media picked up on Batman and the city’s increasing suicide rates among women. He said a columnist asked why Batman’s mayor did not sue the movie Batman for royalties while struggling with economic problems. “We found this criticism right and started to look for legal possibilities of a case like that,” he said.
I only have 2 things to say about this lawsuit:
1.) WTF?
2.) HaHaHa!! LOL!
This is laughable. Hit the link below for the entire post via io9.com.

For those of you who have been holding off on making the move to Blu-ray (myself included), the time may be now! Blu-ray has seen a lackluster launch, primarily due to the competition from the now defunct HD-DVD and also from the popularity of up-converting DVD players. But let’s get real here. Up-converting DVD players look very good, but they do not measure up to Blu-ray in terms of quality and detail.
I have also been reluctant to make the move to Blu-ray, primarily because I have been waiting for the price point of the Blu-ray players to come down. Well, the time may be now! Here are my top reasons for making the move to Blu-ray now:
