Hey guys! We hope your 2019 has been absolutely wonderful! We have had some challenges this year, and we haven’t been able to create content the way we planned in 2019. There still may be a few more months before we can bring you a new review, but we can’t WAIT to get back in the saddle!

Happy New Year! We hope that you have enjoyed your holiday celebrations! We have taken a bit of a break for the last couple of months – workin on NaNoWriMo, and then recovering from NaNoWriMo (XD). But never fear! We have plans to continue reviewing each and every one of Tom Cruise’s movies (in no particular order), and we hope that you will come along for the ride. (You wouldn’t let Barry down, would you?)
How has your New Year’s celebration been? What kind of resolutions have you made this year? Or are you a no-resolution kinda person? Let us know in the comments!

Hey all! Happy Tom Cruise Day!! What have you guys done to celebrate Tom Cruise today? We have been thinking a lot about one of our favorite characters from one of our favorite movies! Who could it be, you ask? Well, there MIGHT be a little bit of a clue in the header pic from this post…
It’s time for some images of that glorious paragon of Rock Star-ness, Staceeeeeeeee!!!
It’s been over four years since the release of Rock of Ages, but it’s just as beautiful as ever! Haven’t seen this great flick? Fix that, STAT! You can get it below, either at Amazon:
Hi all! Welcome to Tom Cruise Tuesday! We’re very excited here at Buttered Popcorn. Why? Tom Cruise Day is coming up!! This coming Saturday (October 6th) has been named Tom Cruise Day in Japan, as a celebration of the fact that Tom Cruise had visited Japan more than any other country. We’re not sure if they still hold that record, but we’re grateful that they named a day after our favorite guy all the same!
We’re not sure how we will be celebrating Tom Cruise Day yet, but for today, we’re feeling very “Oblivion-y”. Here’s a few pictures from that haunting and beautiful movie! Enjoy!
It’s time to take a look at the latest addition to one of Tom’s most well-known and well-loved franchises, Mission: Impossible! We’re huge fans of the Mission series, and Fallout has the honor of being our first ever review of a Mission movie!
Smartass Summary: Tom Cruise jumps out of a spaceship.
Slightly less smartass summary: Ethan Hunt has absolutely NO. DAMN. CHILL.
Ok ok, REAL summary: The IMF saves the day, despite the CIA, the Bad Guys, and the forces of gravity!!
Overall opinion: Buttered Popcorn is of two minds about this movie! On the one hand, we enjoyed the intense action sequences. The stunts were heart-pounding, and (spoiler alert) the bad guy went down hard, as well he should have! But on the other hand, we have a few issues with the plot, and a few more issues with some character motivations, that clouded our ability to fully enjoy this film. That’s why our First Impressions post included the fact that we noticed some things that didn’t quite work, right at our first viewing. But first, we’ll talk about about the parts we liked best about the film!
Haven’t seen this movie recently? Fix that, STAT! Click the image below for more information:
Welcome to Tom Cruise Tuesday! It’s our favorite day of the week – the day we take time out to celebrate Tom Cruise!
As you know, every day is Tom Cruise Day at Buttered Popcorn. If you’re following us on Twitter, you may have read our recent announcement. We will be hosting Tom Cruise Tuesday directly on Twitter each week, and plan to have a post here on the site once a month, rather than every week. We hope that this will give us more time to work on reviews, and to write some of our other fun Tom Cruise Tuesday posts, like Character Interviews and Trivia posts.
For our first monthly Tom Cruise Tuesday post, we thought we would bring you another insight into the minds of your lovely hosts! We’ve seen a few people posting their Top Ten Tom Cruise movies on social media, and we decided to do a top ten ourselves! Then we found we had a tough time narrowing our choices down to ten. We we both ended up with more of a top 14 with 5 or 6 honorable mentions. We also each had the same list of favorites up to about 9, when our paths diverged.
So! In the interest of time and simplicity, we narrowed our choices down to our top five VERY favorite Tom Cruise movies of ALL TIME. Selections were based on what we would watch most, if we had nothing to choose from but Tom’s movies (which… is honestly kind of how we live our lives). Here’s a lovely little image for you.
Can you guess where this one will end up on our list?
Happy Tom Cruise Tuesday! It’s our favorite day of the week! The day we set aside time to celebrate our favorite person EVAR, Tom Cruise!
This week, we want to show our love for Tom by discussing our first impressions of Tom’s latest release: Mission:Impossible- Fallout!
You’ve seen the critics rave about Fallout for weeks, and what can we say? They’re not wrong! While we don’t agree that Fallout surpasses all the other Mission movies (in our humble true and correct opinion, Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol still holds the title for THE BEST Mission movie of all time. Yeah, we said it), we still had a rollicking good time watching Chris McQuarrie put poor Ethan through his paces in another epic installment!
If you haven’t seen this movie yet, what are you waiting for????? Go out there and FIX that, stat!
Go on. We’ll wait.
It was great, right?? We told you so. Now clicky-click that link down below and check out our first impressions of M:I-6!
Time for something new at Buttered Popcorn! A magical thing occurred to us, while watching “Collateral” for the fourth time straight for our Collateral review. We were watching Vincent work, and thinking about the many other notably violent characters Tom has played, and how each of them differ from Vincent. Ethan Hunt fights and kills for his country. Jack Reacher fights and kills for what’s right. Lestat is… a whole different story. But then, we thought about Knight and Day, and it came to us! Vincent and Roy Miller are very similar! In fact, we maintain that either of them could have turned out like the other, if a very few circumstances in their lives had been different.
Join us for our humble true and correct opinions on the similarities (and major differences) between these two powerful characters!
Hello and welcome back to Tom Cruise Tuesday!! Well, folks, we’re less than a week away from the long-awaited “Mission: Impossible Fallout”. It feels like it’s never going to get here!
Tom and company have been out and about on various red carpets around the globe, and we hope now that he has a chance to settle and and rest before the big day arrives. Yeah, we know. Good luck getting Tom Cruise to rest up! ;p
Here are a few pics of our favorite person – hope you enjoy! And come back to see us after you’ve seen the movie! We can’t wait to hear what you think!
