Here is a new little feature that we think will be a great addition to TCT! As we have said before, we love it when people have positive things to say about Tom. With “Kind Words about Tom”, we will feature quotes from those who have worked with him, or been positively affected by him.
Our first quote comes, quite fittingly, from Christopher McQuarrie. Chris has worked with Tom on several films, and has now become the first director ever to direct two “Mission Impossible” films! Tom and Chris have a great working relationship, and they have great things to say about each other!
Normally at Buttered Popcorn, we don’t pay much attention to the news. So many times, the media has been unkind to Tom, and many articles include little snide remarks about Tom, even when they’re saying something that’s positive. So, normally, you won’t see news stories about Tom around here.
Today is an exception! We found out some great news, and Tom Cruise Tuesday is the perfect place to bring it up! According to Deadline, The Will Rogers Motion Piture Pioneer Foundation has chosen to honor Tom with the Pioneer of the Year Award! Tom Cruise Tuesday is all about celebrating Tom, and Buttered Popcorn couldn’t be happier about this news!
Tom accepting his Golden Globe for “Jerry Maguire”. Twenty years ago! OMG we’re old…
Not only will Tom be given a high honor, this is the first time an actor will receive the award. Before now, the award has only been given to industry executives! Tom Cruise is making history, and we couldn’t be more proud!
What does it mean to win this award? well, it means Tom Cruise is awesome, of course! We knew that already, but the award points to special parts of his awesomeness:
“The Pioneer of the Year Award is given to a respected member of the motion picture community whose professional leadership, service, and commitment to philanthropy is exemplary.”
We agree, award people! And we congratulate you, Tom Cruise!! If anyone deserves to break the mold and win an award that’s never been bestowed on an actor before, it’s you!
We can’t wait until April 25th, when we hope that someone will put out a video of the award ceremony! If they do, we will try to post it here, or at least post some quotes from the ceremony. We love it when people say nice things about Tom, and there’s sure to be plenty of that happening at the ceremony!
We’re SO excited for Tom Cruise! Here’s a few of our favorite pictures just because!
Happy smile, right in front of some famous award or other.
Welcome to Tom Cruise Tuesday! It’s time for everybody’s favorite day of the week – the day we celebrate Tom Cruise!
Today, we’re featuring Tom with one of our favorite co-stars of his, Cameron Diaz! Tom has played alongside Cameron in two amazing films: Vanilla Sky and Knight and Day. The two work extremely well together, and have remained personal friends for many years. We hope the two will work together again in the future!

We thought you might like that. Here’s a chance to tell your side of the story!

Today is a very special Tom Cruise Tuesday! It just so happens that Friday was October 6th, and October 6th was declared Tom Cruise Day in Japan! We’re celebrating today! Partly because it’s Tom Cruise Tuesday, and partly because we forgot that Wikipedia has the date wrong! XD
Yes, that’s right! Tom has his own national holiday in Japan, and has had one for eleven years now. Tom was awarded this high honor because he had visited Japan more than any other Western actor, and for his love and respect for the country. According to Hollywood.com’s article on the subject, his Last Samurai grossed $117 million more in Japan than it did in the United States.
Japan loves Tom! (Because they have good taste, people!) And Tom loves Japan right back. In fact, Tom loves all his fans! He loves them enough to spend hours signing autographs and taking pictures at red carpet events. So, in honor of Tom Cruise Day, we’re going to highlight Tom’s love for his fan base with a little picspam of Tom spending time with his fans! We’re not jealous. Seriously. Not jealous at all.
Here’s one of our favorites to start us off!
I feel you, little man. I feel your enthusiasm, and I’m NOT JEALOUS AT ALL.

Today, we’re going to show some love for Tom Cruise by discussing our first impressions of Tom’s latest release: American Made!
This won’t be an “official” review, we will be doing a full review after we have watched the film a few more times. But we want to share our initial thoughts with you.
Needless to say – we loved it! Audiences in most of the world have been raving about the movie for weeks, and we FINALLY got a chance to see it! OBVIOUSLY, we agree, the movie is amazing! It made us laugh, cry, and think deep thoughts, which is pretty fantastic. We can’t say much more without spoilers, so read on for more of our first impressions!
This week, with just three days left before we in the USA can finally enjoy “American Made”, we thought we’d present a little trivia from the movie. There have been several interviews and articles floating around in the wake of the movie’s UK release, and we’d like to share a few choice tidbits from from all the info we’ve been obsessively devouring looking over in the last few weeks.
Welcome to another Tom Cruise Tuesday! “The Mummy” came out a week ago today, and (of course) we had our copy the same day! We’ve decided to celebrate Tom today by taking a look at the Amazon BluRay. We have reason to believe that this is the same as the Target copy. There is also a Best Buy exclusive that includes a graphic novel! We hope to buy this before the end of the month and share details of that one as well.
For now, if you haven’t purchased the movie yet, you can do so here:
It’s the moment we’ve all been waiting for: PICTURE time!! Tom Cruise’s foray into the Dark Universe was released on BluRay and DVD today! In honor of this momentous occasion, this week’s Tom Cruise Tuesday will spread some love for this brave, beautiful film with an EPIC picpspam!
